DTFPrintDC Pressing Instructions
For best results with your DTFPrintDC transfers, follow these four simple steps. A helpful video tutorial is available – click here to watch! Placement: Position your transfer on the garment in the desired location, ensuring the fabric is smooth and wrinkle-free. For hats or when using a household iron, heat-resistant tape is recommended to prevent movement. Experience will guide you on when tape is necessary.
Pressing: Apply medium to high pressure at 310°F / 155°C for 13 seconds. Testing on a scrap piece is always recommended. Use a Silicone Upper Platen Cover & Garment Protector to shield your garment from direct heat. While increased heat, pressure, or time won't harm the transfer itself, it could scorch the garment. If scorching occurs, first reduce pressure. If the issue persists, maintain the reduced pressure and lower the temperature by 10-15°F. With practice, you'll discover the optimal settings for different fabrics.
Peeling: DTFPrintDC transfers utilize Easy Peel Technology, allowing for both hot and cool peel. After a short wait, peel the transfer. If any part of the design hasn't adhered, re-press with slightly more pressure and heat (+15°F). Continue increasing heat in 15°F increments if needed. A key advantage of DTFPrintDC transfers is their resilience to multiple presses. Final Press & Care: Unlike some other DTF transfer providers, we strongly recommend a final press for superior quality. After peeling the film, cover the design with the included parchment paper or a thin layer of t-shirt material and press for approximately 15 seconds. This significantly improves durability, softness, and reduces shine. For a glossy finish, use a guard sheet during this final press. For optimal wash results and longevity, turn the garment inside out, wash in cold water, and tumble dry on low heat or hang to dry. Standard washing is acceptable, but gentler settings extend the print's lifespan.
